typr tool not working in CS5 and CS3

how do I change my unit size and the amount of gigs I'm using and why is the default set to all this?
I've used photoshop many times and I didn't have to adjust anything
thanks foe the help though
I just wish I could get all this fixed

I'm starting to see some typing but its way to small to read and it wont let me highlight it so I can change the fault size
I'll try to mess with it some more

Create a new canvas at 72ppi and dimensions say of 800px x 800px, then choose the type tool at around 20pts - does that come out OK?

At the moment your canvas size is about the size of a football field and your type is the size of an ant, no wonder you can't see it!

To change the size of the type look at the top of your PS screen at the context sensitive menu, there should be an input box to select size of type. It's difficult to explain as I don't have PS in front of me for the next few days.

Failing all of the above advice, try resetting PS preference file Ctrl+Alt+Shift held down whilst opening PS, should give you the option to reset prefs. At least this gives you a baseline on which to operate again.

It looks like you just clicked without dragging to make a box so that you can type in.
