When I open photoshop the default tool is always the marque tool, but in my previous versions it opened with the selection tool. I can't seem to find a way to choose that option. Is that possible to choose what tool you want on start-up? Please if anybody knows this let me know?

Please and Thank you! Big Wink

Welcome to the forum. Reading between the lines, I guess by 'selection tool' you mean the move tool 'v' and at the moment it selects a marquee of some kind.

I am just guessing, but try saving with the tool selected and then opening another image. Of course that could be wishful thinking! ;)

Yes, the (v) move tool, and I have done that before with no luck but thanks for the idea.

That was my thought too... :) Seems though, that this isn't happening for the OP.

I've tried searching for an answer, without success. It's got me beat. Sorry about that. The only thing I can think of is some sort of permissions problem when it tries to save its current state.
