When I open photoshop the default tool is always the marque tool, but in my previous versions it opened with the selection tool. I can't seem to find a way to choose that option. Is that possible to choose what tool you want on start-up? Please if anybody knows this let me know?

Welcome to the forum. Reading between the lines, I guess by 'selection tool' you mean the move tool 'v' and at the moment it selects a marquee of some kind.
I am just guessing, but try saving with the tool selected and then opening another image. Of course that could be wishful thinking!

Yes, the (v) move tool, and I have done that before with no luck but thanks for the idea. |

Mine seems to open with whatever tool I last selected... |

That was my thought too...  Seems though, that this isn't happening for the OP.

I've tried searching for an answer, without success. It's got me beat. Sorry about that. The only thing I can think of is some sort of permissions problem when it tries to save its current state. |
