Hey everyone. I am extracting the following photo with quick selection tool

http://www.highresolutionpics.info/2011/floral-art-abstract-tree/download-free-vector-stock-art-floral-tree/

and it takes everything out in the middle and all is good except when i put it on a backgorund that is not black there is a very light black colored boc around the whole thing when i put it into a new picture. Its almost like it got rid of it all but not everything. what am i doing wrong? im missing something

Hi Markus, welcome to the forums.

I think your best bet to select the tree is the select/color range command. Select the background (use the eyedropper with the + sign because it's a gradient). Then check "invert" to select the tree. Click ok. Then click on the "refine edge" button in the options bar (you must have a selection tool active). Set the radius value to 0,1 and click ok.
If you need more help just let us know.

Yes that works too Mike :) but I think color range in combination with refine edge results in smoother edges in this particular case.
