You can merge as many layers as are selected. You can c lick the top layer, then right-click and choose "merge visible". This will merge all layers that are visible (layers that have the photoshop eye icon means they are visible.) If you don't want to merge a layer, click the eye icon until it disappears.

You can have as many layers as you like 100's or 1000's depending on your system resources and the file size of the document(resolution) |

Thanks jeff and the taoiseach,Both are giving me some really best information i was tried it when i added 10 layer and after added another one than one message display "you can not add more layer now you have to merge it" that time what should i do?
