Foreground color

I've used photoshop, for a while, but have never run into this. I'm no expert with the program, but I can do some basics, and that is all I've ever needed to do.

However, in the last day, I was trying to change colors on some things and my foreground color will never go to the color I want. It always stays a shade of black/white. I can pick the brightest green color, with the color picker, but it won't show up in the foreground color square.

Can anyone help me understand why I can't draw in color. I'm ont sure what setting could have been moved, but something has definately happend.

make a new document and use "RGB Color" .. or go to image- mode- RGB color

that should help

Thanks for the help. I did find the problem. It happend when I was creating a new document.

Now for one other question. I have a letter that is silver in color. I'm trying to find a way to make the silver color look more like it has clearcoat over it. Basically it should have a wet look like you see on automobiles. Any suggestions on how to make that happed? I've only done basics with photoshop, this is pretty advanced for me.

Attached is the logo. I'm trying to change the "I" into a shiny, aluminum look. Any ideas on how to do that?

I'm not sure why it didn't like the jpg I posted, so I removed it and put up a gif. My FrontPage 2003 software didn't like a jpg I put up either. Not sure if the way photoshop is saving files has something to do with it or if I have something in the menu set up incorrectly causing the jpg files to be corrupted.

I placed a jpg into a web page, uploaded the page and the picture and it still came up with an X and didn't load the file. But when I switched it to a gif, it worked fine. Looks like I have another question I need some help with.
