Like a Wacom type input device. I do not have one... just wondering if it is worth the investment really.

Not me, but as soon as money allows I'm getting one. I can draw like a mofo, but when it comes to recreating my ideas using PS tools, I stink. So I desperately want a tablet so I can draw my ideas.

I got a graphire once, but didn't ever get used to it so I took it back. I've got a microsoft trackball explorer (the trackball is as big as a raquetball). I've always liked trackballs when designing... don't know why.
One day I'd like to get a good tablet though... who knows

I used to have a cheap Wacom (the PenPal?) and even that simple one was great to have (I gave it to my brother who is 10x the artist I am with a pen)
I miss it though, but would want my next one to support tilting and all that good stuff.
If you do alot of drawing-type artwork, they're worth it, by a long shot. Plus, they are easier on your carpal tunnels 
I even used to use it to surf the 'net. Sure, a mouse is comfy, but we've all been holding a pen for much longer.
One thing you have to get used to (takes only minutes) with the pen is that you don't "push" the cursor around as you would with a mouse. The Tablet mirrors the screen, so you place the pen at the top left of the tablet, your cursor is at the top left of your screen. Once you are comfortable with this, you can be both highly precise and extremely fast.

Cursor motion is not determined by the tip of the stylus touching the surface of the tablet. You can hold the tip up to a 1/4" away and the stylus motion will be detected (uses magnetism) Pressing the tip of the stylus to the tablet is like left-clicking.

I have played with one and it has me enthralled for sketching purposes. Hand sketch to scanner just doesn't have the same clarity. Have yet to be able to afford one myself however.

I use intuos 2, pretty cool for freehand (drawing, etc) stuff, not that I do it a lot
