I am an almost total newbie and am trying to make a star shape that would appear to be faceted and made of Quartz. I've trawled the net but Quartz does not seem to be popular! I have CS2 and it will be part of a logo for the web. I have used the shape tool but cannot get the colours/transparency right. Any help would be much appreciated as I have now been trying on and off for 2 weeks! PS I know nothing about the pen tool so please don't ask me to draw a star!!! I can however draw the star in Auto cad but when I export it as an eps it looks awful.

Hi,

An easy way to get the hang of drawing with the pen tool is to display the grid and use that as a guide. Set the grids size in your preferences then display it and use as a placement guide for your star. You should also find a star shape in the custom shapes folder.

There is a tutorial for making quartz here that you might be able to adapt for your needs.

Many thanks, this gives me a starting point and the tutorial looks quite good, will give it a try this evening.
