Been using Photoshop since 5.5 but now, in 7.0.1, when it tries to load, I get the message "Unable to continue because of hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable" Then I'm dumped. I've removed the program and tries reinstall. Same result. Anyone have any ideas?

one possibility is your pc hasn't got the right spec to run 7.0, another is somethings failed (ram perhaps) and it's detecting it, or perhaps a conflict of some sort.
did this happen when you installed 7.0 or was it working for a while then stopped? Wayne

Running XP Pro with quite a bit of RAM. I had been running 7.0.1 for quite some time. I did recently update the Norton System works. I can't imagine how that would interfere.....but who knows!

I would uninstall Photoshop and everything that deals with it. Then, restart and do a search using "*" (without the " " in it) like search for *Adobe, or *Photoshop, or *CS. Delete everything that it finds. Restsart and reinstall Photoshop. Not saying it'll definately fix the problem, but I've run into similar problems with different programs, and once with PS 6.0.1. I did the search thingy and deleted everything that was found. Restarted and worked great.

Hope this helps.
