I think it's very nice looking, my one comment though, you should put the hair layer above the skin layer, cause it looks like the skin is just pasted above the hair otherwise, you sould be able to see the hair going into the head, like in the photograph.

The hair layer is above the skin, it's just mostly opaque except for a few stray hairs at the edge. If I was trying to be very realistic, then yes, it would be good to have some skin showing through at the front of the hairline. Likewise, I should be showing more skin through the beard, just below the mouth. I tried both of these things, though, and they didn't go well with the style of the rest of the picture.
