It shouldn't make a difference.
Since you’d almost always reduce pixel dimension for web work, I use Bicubic Sharper for that. Bicubic Smoother is a better method to add pixels if you need them. You're right, most scenarios for that would be for print. Say a firm wants 300 ppi file for a 16 X 20 image. You might be short on pixels so you upsample using Bicubic Smoother.
Before Bicubic Smoother there was a method of upsampling where you would make 10 percent increases until you got the size you needed. Supposedly gave you a nicer image than a one-time jump to the new size. Bicubic Smoother, they say, does an even better job. |
