Thanks for your replies! I read all of them carefully but I'm still not able to get a good result.
I've tried and tried to get my platforms to look like those in that Mario screenshot I posted, but I can't... Looking at the texture and shading of the platform in the Mario screenshot, what would be a good way to recreate it on Photoshop, just slightly larger?

Use photoshop's grass brush. Then rotate the result 180 degrees, use the marquee to clip the "top" into a straight line, and then you can drag a gradien to get a reflection like in your first post. You can use a stroke layer style to get a black line, or the single row marquu tool.
Probably the biggest thing is turning the grass brush upside-down. _________________ brush your hair and comb your teeth |
