I noticed that some of the filters don't make any difference when I select them, any idea why? Most the following are the ones that work - most of the others do not.
Sponge, Chalk & Charcoal, Patchwork, Stained Glass, etc...

Not sure.
It may help to state which ones in particular don't work and post a screenshot of the 'lack of difference' using the filter gallery in Photoshop. |

I found that if you have the creative suite there are 2 different versions of Photoshop. Depending on your filter it may not work in the 64-bit PS. Try opening the other version. |
