Hi All

I'm currently working through a book for Illustrator CS but using CS2. It wants me to use an apple picture from the brush library but the CS2 libraries are different to those shown in the book, esp. those in the CS Bible p117 where it lists all kinds of exotic categories (Animals, Insects, Tracks, Woodcuts etc) - where have they gone in CS2?

(I've re-loaded Illustrator and looked on the 'goodies' disk and online)

There are some extra brushes not loaded in PS (or they used to be) but I havent seen the ones you are refering to, perhaps the author has added extra custom brushes to his set?
I just checked and CS2 has an extra set not in CS, to find them look in programs/adobe/CS2/presets/brushes/ adobe photoshop only. Wayne

Wayne

I'm thinking I've accidentally de-selected something or got a setting wrong/unloaded because the screen pictures in the book show a huge list of brushes that seem to come as standard; for example in the book it uses an apple from category "Food_Fruits and Vegetables" referring to it as "...a built-in Illustrator brush but you can just as easily use any artwork...". When I follow the same menus my brush categories are far less with headings like "Artistic_paint" kind-of-thing - certainly nothing exotic sounding.

You can try saving a custom shape from photoshop if you have any exotic ones, you could make some new ones from scratch or download some

Metomorphosis, he's looking for brushes he thinks should be there allready.
I haven't got illustrator here to check so I don't know wherher they are missing, or whether they were custom brushes the author has installed.
Do you know if food's fruit etc are normal brushes for illustrator?

On Illustrator you only get the same ones for photoshop i beleive, i have CS2 installed but i only ever used the CS Illustrator shapes/brushes once, and not having used the CS2 ones i wouldnt know. And like Wayne said, check for some installed brushes in the book, you might be missing some or you have a different copy of Illustrator/CS2 but i highly doubt that.
