Hi All,
Sorry if this is a really noob question, Im just not 100%
Whats the difference between using the pen and the brush?
I have an image scanned into photoshop that I want to enlarge.
My son draw an image, thats 248 by 451(pixels), I want to make it bigger so its can be used on an A4 piece of paper.
When I make the image bigger its distorted and pixelated.
Ive looked at a few tutorials online that suggest using the pen tool to recreate the image, but on a different tut a chap drew over his image with a brush and it looked really good.
Im not amazing with the pen tool and find it quite difficult to use.
If I copy his image with the brush, can I make the image bigger and still keep the quality of the work?
Hope this makes sense what I'm asking :| |

Hi ChrysaorRahl,
I think the answer lies with the size of the image.
The easiest things to do would be to rescan using a higher resolution settings, something like 600ppi or larger if you want to upscale it.
If that's not possible then the pen tool would be ideal as it's resolution-independent, so you can redraw it at the original size and make it larger without losing any quality.
The brush tool will pixelate if you enlarge, so it's best to resize the document first and then redraw.
The technique you use will also depend on type of image you're working with. The more details, the harder it's going to be to redraw.
Hope that helps _________________ Matt
