im sure i messed with it, but this is what my smude tool used to do:

now it does this:

Turn off finger painting by unchecking the box beside the use all layers box. That may help.

once you have selected the smudge tool you should have this tool bar running along the top of the document window.

Default brush? You can choose whatever brush you want to smudge. Just click on the arrow next to where in jiteye's pic is the brush (13) and you can choose whatever you want.

you can try using a smaller brush...and make your strokes a little light when smudging...i'm not sure though...the best way to know for sure is to experiment...

and 100 percent is not wqhat u want
go for about 50 percent and work from there
