Weird phenomenon when creating a border (photoshop glitch?)

Hello,

I've been framing tons of pictures for a project for a little while now.

I've done them by first cutting the part of the image I need to cut, creating a new layer copy of it, selecting it (in all) with magic wand and then from the menu: Select -> Modify -> Border (usually around 5-12 pixels, depending) and filling it with Edit -> Fill -> Color. At first everything went smooth and I got the pictures to look like I wanted.

But then, suddenly, the borders got blurry like here:


When I want the borders to be sharp like in this picture:


(obviously not as crooked and warped, as you can see free hand is not an option here, hehe....)


The odd thing is, the blurred parts come clearly over the selection I made. I tried to fill the selected parts with a brush but it does the same weird blurry thing.

I have already reseted my Photoshop settings to default. Now I'm clueless...
