|
|
I currently own Photoshop CS3 Master. I don't use much of anything that is included other than Photoshop. I would like to upgrade to CS5 but I don't want to put all that money out to update the programs I don't use. Is it possible to upgrade just the Photoshop CS 5 (I think it's 199) and nothing else?
Thank you |

You might want to check with Adobe, they would know for certain what you can do. |

The adobe site says it can be upgraded from essentials to essentials. But I am wondering if it just doesn't state the other way around because most upgrade the same software they have? |

Any opinion we have would only be guessing. If you can call, they can tell you for certain. |

I purchased Photoshop CS3 extended in Design Premium, now if I want to upgrade to Photoshop CS5 it will cost $799.00 rather than $199.00. It appears when you buy it bundled you do not purchase the full rights to the individual products as when it is purchased separately. This was confirmed by Adobe in a support call a couple of days ago when the serial number sent in an email did not work.
The fact that there is no upgrade available that allows you to benefit by dropping parts of the bundle is a good reason not to get more CS product than you require. You are stuck with very expensive upgrades for products you over purchase. You are better to stay with minimum requirements or even to buy one or two packages separately.
As there are insufficient benefits (I like the paint feature for occasional use but not at $800.00) to upgrading, a group of us are not going to bother and will send the rare bits that can benefit from new features to a guy who enjoys Photoshop more than photography. He can upgrade for $200.00. We all have various versions that can do all of the work most of the time so this will work for us. Some of us already share printers and scanners and the talents required to get the best out of them and he will benefit from that. If for any reason it doesn't work out, there is no loss. (I was informed of the acceptability of this arrangement on the Adobe forums.) |
