Ok, so i set up a new text layer, adjust the font color size etc.
When i type it comes out fine but if i try to put in a number it jumps to the end of the sentence? ie:
five hendon place (is fine) but 5 hendon place comes out...hendon place5.
Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong here?

I recall a similar bug with punctuation marks; this one was to be fixed by setting the type engine from Middle Eastern to East Asian.
It's a long shot but it might help you.
Edit > Preferences > Type > Check the radio box in front of East Asian > Press OK > Restart Photoshop to apply the changes.
If that doesn't work you might try the skeleton key to solutions of resetting your preset file by holding Ctrl+Shift+Alt during Photoshop's bootpop-up.

That worked perfectly. Not sure why it would suddenly change though  ..just one of those things i guess.
