Have you used a displacement map? (The displacement filter?) It will 'deform' the text to the texture of the wall as it would make for example the sprayed text on the flushing 'lower' and on a brick 'higher' etc.

A clipping mask and a deplacement filter with deplacement mask are two totally different things, Iain.

Hi Rarity, i'm brand new to this and wouldn't think that the displacement filter (given the depth of the background image) would show much more detail than a clipping mask.. Other suggestions (right or wrong) often provoke further discussion which is good for the creative juices don't you think?..no harm in trying i guess, i just like to explore every option available in the filter gallery.

The displacement filter, used properly with a good map, is the best and quickest way to allow detail as in the texture show through a layer. One could go cutting out all bricks, duplicate the layer and link it with a clipping mask and achieve similar effects, yes, but it will be way harder than it needs to be imho.

In some words-Filters sucks ...I like to do everything myself...not the filter witch YOU did NOT make yourself...if you do the most yourself you feel better of yourself and that image you made

There are many filters you can use to get the seams texture. Find the channel where the seams look best, save it as a new document. Convert to Smart Object and try some filter stacks, for example:
A little Smart Blur
Photocopy filter
Minimum or Maximum filters to adjust the result if needed.
Use this texture as mask for letters and/or use Liquify filter with this mask and manually distort the letters as you like.
Or use this mask to create 3D Mesh from Grayscale, adjust the Y scale and drop the wall image and letters on the Diffuse texture.

It loocks quite good for a rookie. I do think that the text seems to pop out from the wall which makes it look unnatural. I would try playing around with blending instead of filters, try multiply on the text.
