Every time I open up my CS3 Photoshop program, it seems to take forever and EVER! Almost like four to five minutes. The only thing I can think of is the time it takes to load up my brushes, which are only about 100 or so, but I use all them often.
Will deleting the non-essential brushes help speed up the program, or is there other things I can do to help open faster?
I always clean up my disk and run de-fragmenter about twice a week,as well as delete cookies, and recycle bin..
Thank You for any help!

Addendum...I noticed it was totally MY PREFERENCES that took all but two seconds for CS3 to open.

Next time this happens, take a look what's running on the startup splash screen. I had this same problem, and it just crashed consistently. I'm running windows 7. On mine, it froze at the startup screen message "global text". Get the message from the splash screen where it freezes, then google it. That's how I fixed mine. I ended up having to delete my page file.psp. Hope you're up and running soon. It's probably real easy to fix. _________________ Jeff
Thanks Jeff,
I added to my above post that I noticed the PREFERENCES took all that time to load and open up CS3.
One day after creating about forty new brushes, and shutting down, later in the day I opened back up CS3, and it opened up within 30 seconds, WOW, I thought, then when I opened up the brushes palette, all my recently made brushes that I just made earlier in the day just disappeared! So obviously I thought that all those brushes that disappeared actually made the program open faster than normal.
How much time should be the 'norm' for opening up photoshop?
Does anyone know why brushes simply vanish? My brushes could be there for a few months, then suddenly they're gone. thx

the brushes will disappear if they're not saved. I learned that one the hard way too. I too use extensive brushes that I create myself, so I save everything constantly. Glad PS is working for you. _________________ Jeff
