I like the painterly effect most..It gives a softer look..I don't think I want to paint to make it look like a photo, but to make it look painted.. _________________ and the wisdom to know the difference... |

so you painted all of that from sctratch? the palm tree looks like a picture.. and the lighting on the trunk is a little different from the rest of the compasition... it looks like you combined photo's
what i was talking about is not using any pictures. drawing everything with light and dark value over a 50% grey background. then adding color over the top of everything. its not painted over a picture or anything.
here is when i was doing the torso=

That was painted totally..There are no parts of photos at all..The idea of digital painting, is not to use anything..If the shading is different, it's because I am kind of new at this..I promise..I did it my self..I've done a couple more if you want to see them.?
Idrew the rocks with the pen tool..I had a photo to look at..It was a challenge on one of my boards..So I don't have as many rocks, and mine are all different shapes..
I sampled colors from the photo..I'm not familiar with oceans or palm trees..So I used the photo for getting the colors..I had a feeling I should have gone over that trunk though..lol.. _________________ and the wisdom to know the difference... |

haha i know what the idea of digital painting is lol. yeah man you did a good job, especially the palm leaves... thats a dificult thing to do right. anyway i would like to see more of your pictures. i think a way for you to make it look more seemless would be to add a little blur to the edges of your objects so that they have the whole depth of feild thing going on. awesome man. keep it up! _________________ http://malconpierce.deviantart.com/
