The background is not a solid color but divided into two sections or bands. If I try to add the page background colors to my background, how do I get it to blend/align correctly?

Well i guess it's the white border that makes a bit of a problem, so i removed it.
If you want to add the background, just paste it correctly behind your coin. It looks like the coin is as big as the background so the allignment shouldn't pose that much of a problem.
