I'm sure I've saved some NEF files as JPEGs in the past, and the Save As dialogue asked for some parameters for the compression and quality. But now when I go to save a NEF in this way, I don't find JPEG as an option in the drop-down list of file types. What have I forgetten? How can I create a JPEG from a NEF? javascript:emoticon(':-?')

NEF is one of Nikon's versions of a RAW file. i.e. an image of about as high a pixel density as the camera can make. NEF = Nikon Electronic File (or Format?). To make a JPEG from a NEF, compression is necessary.
As I said, I just know that Photoshop CS can do this, but I've lost track of the procedure.
Thanks. _________________ Blurt |

Is it a high bit file? Jpg will not support 16 bit/channel. |

Nikon Electronic Format/File, doesnt matter, ive heard both plenty of times.
you need to put it into 8-bit.
if your serious, ( and i gather you are form shooting in RAW), id look into getting Capture |
