Hello All,
Nice site as you may guess Im starting in the begginers section because I'm a n00b:)
I've created a layer called trees in photoshop v7.0. I just want to keep copying and pasting (using cntrl V + C) the trees onto that layer but each time it creates another layer 1, 2, 3 etc? I've also added some drop shadow to the tree which I'd like to repeat if possible.
How do I keep them all on the one 'tree' layer? |

im a noob too, but what if you created a new layer and clicked group with previous layer, ive never tried that. Or if after you were finsished yuou copied it all and pasted it onto a new picture. |

Thanks Mate,
I just noticed it does for text as well. Im moving around the drawing adding a letter onto various buildings. It creates a new layer each time for each letter? |

Photoshop automatically assumes you want a new layer for each new object.
You can solve it by merging down (but if you do remember that it gets difficult to change the position of one tree versus another tree) Better is to let them all stay on a different layer (so that you can change the position of a tree later on) and at the end create a new layer and hit ctrl+alt+shift+E This will create a layer where everything visible is put together, so you have it all on a seperate layer.
The drop shadow you can easily copy. When you click on the stylesign on your layer with your right button (mouse) you can choose copy layer style. Just paste them on your other layers and you're done.
Text= new object and thus new layer. I don't see the advantage of merging them down here, but you can do that and thus only have one layer left.
