I am using Photoshop elements and when I open RAW files they seem to have a yellow hue, if I open the JPEG version then they don't have the yellowness that the RAW does. Any suggestions at all?

It's not so obvious on the child although if you look at her hair you can see it, however it is really obvious on the cat.

Hello ginauk84,

JPEG images have been processed by the camera before you download them to your computer, so the white balance will have been amended in an attempt to remove any colour casts (the yellow). Raw photos will not have received any colour balance work in the camera so that you can process it yourself.

A JPEG will generally look better than a Raw file straight off the camera because the JPEG has been processed already.

Hope that helps.
