3d and Photoshop work very well together. Here's a few examples of business cards that I was making back in the late '90's. Some of which are a bit out of date design wise now, but then were pretty much in demand then.
The crown was specifically asked for by the client as this was a make over. Made in Truespace
I tried photographing the tower in Tower Ads but they all were unacceptable, so I modelled it again in Truespace
As with the Dulux tin.
The massage card was somewhat of a challenge. Haim wanted 2 hands massaging the Sydney Harbour Bridge at sunset. Again I tried phographing hands but couldn't get the lighting or the positions right. I downloaded the two hands as 3d models from a web site and positioned them in 3dMax using the Harbour pic as a background. There are much better hands now in Poser
All assembly work was done in PS.
So as you can see 3d and PS work hand in hand
