Hey board,
I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5.5, and am having a problem in PS.
I have a PSD file and I clicked on Save for Web & Devices, like I've done hundreds of times in PS CS3, and saved as a GIF. Well and good, but
the file didn't work or display when I uploaded it to a website. I soon found that the file size was 0k and was called empty by a viewer. Huh?
So, I repeated the process, and PS told me that the file was 60k in my Save for Web... window (in the optimized tab, lower left), but somehow again it went to 0k when saved.
Playing around with the settings didn't solve the issue. What am I overlooking and how can I fix this? I need to have this image uploaded
and my client is tapping his foot as I type this (no pressure, of course!).

The most obvious thing to eliminate is that you are uploading the correct file. Do a "preview" before you leave the 'save for web.'
If the file is visible, then try saving it with a different (and unusual) name to be sure that you have the right file. You can always rename it afterwards. This is to avoid a common problem (which I've done myself) where a file exists with the same name in different folders.
If you have successfully saved it with a new name you should now try to check it locally on a web browser on your own PC. I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work if you are in that folder and call up a valid gif.
If you can look at it successfully on your local brower, you now need to look at how you are uploading it. If you are using FTP, for example, check that it's set to 'binary', not 'ascii'.
On the other hand, if the file is not visible in the preview of 'Save for Web' then you can start investigating all the options that you are using in 'Save for Web'. Perhaps a screen shot so somebody here can give advice.
