I successfully run Photoshop CC 2015 and Lightroom CC 2015 in my PC (Windows 10 - 64 b). However in Photoshop when I try to use Filter > Render > Tree or Fire I used to get the error message “OpenGL assisted rendering not supported in this computer”.
I tried every single trouble shooting instruction in the Photoshop website. My video drivers are the most current ones available. My PC greatly exceeds all hardware requirements specified by Adobe for these programs. Furthermore, when I run Lightroom CC 2015 Preferences > System Info (with Use Graphic Processor checked in), I get the following report:
Graphics Processor Info:
GeForce GTX 760/PCIe/SSE2
Check OpenGL support: Passed
Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 358.50
Renderer: GeForce GTX 760/PCIe/SSE2
LanguageVersion: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compile
In other words Lightroom found the GPU but Photoshop did not. After untold hours of searches and trial and errors, I found a solution which I am posting here for anybody that has the problem I described above.
SOLUTION
In NVIDIA Control Panel select 3D Settings > Adjust image settings > Use the advanced 3D image settings and click on 'Take me there'.
Select the tab 'Program Settings'.
Expand the 'Select a program' box by clicking on the down arrow and verify that BOTH hotoshop and sniff.exe programs are in the list. In my PC they look like this ( I installed Photoshop in the D: drive):
Adobe Photoshop (photoshop.exe)
d:\program files\adobe photoshop cc 2015\sniffer.exe
NOTE: IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO HAVE PHOTOSHOP.EXE, YOU MUST HAVE SNIFFER.EXE AS WELL.
If the sniffer.exe program is NOT included in the "Select a program to customize' list, Photoshop will not recognize your NVIDIA GPU. Good luck. |
