I don't do a large amount of drawing but I do do some, along with usefull selector tools like the laso when majic wand isn't cutting it.

But I was also thinking that a tablet might be practicle for a daily routine. From what I remember is if you touch the far right corner. Your mouse will go to the far right corner. The thing i was woundering about is if I qwuicly move the pen to the right 2 inches, will it go to the far right of the screen? Or is it a fixed aspect ratio?

See for general use it wouldn't be practicle to move my hand back and forth 12 inches.

Here is one that I am looking at

You should get this one instead: http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index_18sx.cfm

It's only $249... Oh wait sorry it's $2499.

What if money grew on trees? lol

I agree, Wacom is the way to go. And yes, the tablets (Wacom anyways) have a fixed aspect ratio setting, which means that if your pen is in the upper right corner, so is your cursor. It works well with a dual-monitor landscape too.

This thread has some good info on tablets too.

I really can't spend much at all, but i do have dual monitors. What would you guys recomend thats low range, under say $160? i don't need something with a LCD Touch screen like the $2400 one.

You should check out the Wacom Graphire or Intuos Series. I started with the Graphire2 4x5. It was nice but the new Graphire3 6x8 is a better tablet and @ $199.99 it's not that hard on the wallet either.

6x8 works well for me. If you don't have alot of desk space I'd go for the 4x5. Not as much area to work in but much smaller. as for the aspect ratio, it can be changed and adjusted. you can even turn it off if you want to.

I own a 4x5 Graphire3, so here's my opinion on it.

Aspect ratio, you can set it to match your monitor perfectly, or you can set it to be more like a mouse. Handy when you need fine work on art. It allows you to make cursor acceleration, or none at all, the pen has two buttons you can customize, as well as the wireless, batteryless mouse's center click. I find the tablet very good in quality and usability. Takes some getting used to, but the tracking's spot on. For $100 you can't go wrong as a first tablet. I plan to get a higher end Intuos once I become more professional in my ability with Photoshop and this tablet. Plus it's Wacom, so you can't go wrong.

That's really cool. I'm tempted to buy one now after hearing how you talk about it. Just to experiment with.
