I have different photos that I use for backgrounds, and then a text layer that goes over there, that I'd like the text color to change, depending upon what is under it on the background layer.
I've had limited success creating a work path, and then a layer adjustment on the workpath that is set to invert (with difference). It kinda works, but I was hoping there is a better solution. |

Have you tried just a text layer with all the different blending modes?
You probably need to be a bit more specific as to how exactly you want you text colour to change depending on what is underneath it. |

What I mean is that I might have a background image that has dark areas and light areas that are beneath the text layer. So the text needs to be dark when it's over a light area in the background layer, and then light when it's over a dark area. |

OK simple enough.
First get the text where you want it in the right size and font etc.
Then ctrl+click the text layer thumbnail, this should give you a selection (marching ants) of the text.
Now hide the text layer and select the background layer where you image is.
With one of the marquee tools selected right click the selection on the canvas.
Choose from the menu 'Layer via copy".
Now that you have that layer, go to the image menu > adjustments > invert.
You should now have text with dark in the light spots and light in the dark spots.
Let me know how that goes for you. |
