I'd have to say I'm at an Intermediate /Expert level with PS, but for some reason I am having the hardest darn time figuring out how to pull off this technique! Its driving me crazy, so I've joined here in hopes that someone can help me out. I'm sure its something overly simple that I'm just not seeing or figuring out.
I am looking to do the following border technique on my photos.
I see this used all over the place. Almost all the images on www.hurley.com use that style behind the photos, and I'm just not sure the best way to go about achieving that. If someone could please help, I would greatly appreciate it. =] [/img] |

You need to search google for "Photoshop edge masks". The technique is achieved by appling border that you see around the images as a layer mask. Any black areas of the mask will allow the image that its masking to appear, but the white areas will allow the layer beneath it to be seen. Shades of grey will create a fade. |
