|
|
Hi there. I've been struggling with a few problems in Photoshop CS5 for a while. I'm using Windows 7. I'm only now looking for real solutions because I'm starting to get sick of it.
The problems I've been having are:
- I can't save brush presets anymore
The default brushes were replaced with a set of brushes I downloaded a while back, and even when I set the default brushes in the preset manager, it still reverts back to the downloaded set whenever I restart photoshop. It doesn't matter what brushes I load and save in the preset manager. Same result every time. So I constantly have to load a set of brushes I want every time I open photoshop.
- I can't save new file presets
The "new file" presets somehow got changed to odd dimensions. Even after changing to my desired preset settings, once I restart photoshop the settings are reverted back to the same weird dimensions from before.
- The "open recent" tab hasn't updated recent files since February of this year
The most recent file I can access from this tab is from 2/5/13
My theory is that each of these problems has stemmed from the same issue, and it likely happened in February of this year. But I have no idea how to fix this. Please help, this is REALLY annoying.

Wow sounds like you have a lot of problems on your hands.
First thing I would try is holding down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift when you start up Photoshop to reset all the settings to their defaults. |

When I hold down those keys, nothing seems to happen at all. I tried it several times, a few while Photoshop was loading up and a few after it had loaded and all the settings remained the same. |

Are you on a PC?
If so, as above, but keep them held whilst and during the .exe command (pressing PS icon). It will ask if you want to reset pref file. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

Okay I've done that. It changed the settings when creating new files, but everything else with the brushes and the "open recent" tab are still messed up. Thank you though! |

I am out of ideas. All I can think of is that somehow a file in the Photoshop directory has been changed to read only or something silly like that.
Take a look at this list:
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations.html
Make sure none of them are read only and check their modified dates in the preferences to see if any haven't changed since February when the issue started. |

It worked! All I did was uncheck the Read Only boxes the ones that hadn't been updated since February. I can't believe it! Thank you so much |
