I've recently stumbled across a bug in photoshop cs6 which has all but made the program unusable. I've yet to find anyone else who has documented the same problem online, so this is a bit of a long shot, but I'll describe what's happening and hopefully someone can give me some guidance.
The bug seems to be stopping a lot of keyboard and mouse inputs into photoshop. I currently can't right click, click and drag with the left mouse button, or use any combination of clicking and the control, alt or shift keys. Needless to say, this is somewhat unhelpful, as it renders the marquee, paintbrush, and crop tools useless, as well as several others.
I've so far tried removing my preferences, uninstalling and reinstalling cs6 and running a system restore on windows. Many people have attributed similar bugs to the use of the program Synergy, which I don't use, but I installed it and uninstalled it because I'm that desperate. I've even tried downgrading to an old copy of photoshop cs5 that I have, but it's displaying the same errors.
Because I'm getting the bug across different versions of photoshop I'm thinking that the bug is probably related to incompatibility with some other software, but since nothing has changed, to the best of my knowledge, and I've run a system restore to back before the bug was present, I have no idea what it could be.

I am thinking the same thing.
Try it with a different mouse.
Try mouse on different usb port.
Try a different keyboard.
Try starting windows in safe mode.
Also you can try:
Type msconfig into start menu and get into the start-up tab and disabling everything that is made by a software manufacturer and even some of the unimportant hardware stuff.

It did occur to me to try a safe mode, but for some reason I never got around to it.
In any case, just ran in safe mode and photoshop ran properly, and I thought I would be up for a long evening of disabling different drivers to see what was causing the issue, but it started running in regular mode as well. It's kind of annoying that I don't know what was causing the issues, but it's working now so I can hardly complain.
My best guess is that either something autoupdated to iron out some incompatibility bug, or avast or MWBytes picked it up on my weekly virus and malware check this saturday. In any case, thanks for the advice, it made me aware that it was working again, and I've reinstalled cs6 so I have all those fancy transition effects back.

Just a quick follow-up for anyone else who may be experiencing this problem, after a bit of messing about with my computer's services I am 95% sure that the issue was due to Razer Synapse, software for Razer headsets and other audio hardware. I've had numerous problems with this program before, so I recommend uninstalling it because the complications far outweigh the benefits.
