I am mid project and have something like 150 odd layers, its a long ongoing project and I shall be working on it for quite a few more hours yet !

I have stumbled across a couple of issues, one of which i solved but the other one i am having trouble with, I hope somebody can help.

Like i say i was/am mid project and was adding new image elements .. .png's, dragged one across did what i needed to, then used the merge down function, this was an element that had to be repeated in this way, so i grabbed .png number 2, dragged it into the project window as before, and attempted the same process.
However when i tried the keyboard shortcut for free transform, it gave me an error saying something like unable to use 'xxxx tool' target layer/channel is hidden......but i have hidden nothing and am working on the layer it claims is hidden, and the selected layer shows up greyed out instead of the blue a selected layer should be (on my setup)
I have found that double clicking the layer to enter the layer style pop up, then pressing ok, the layer is now highlighted blue and i can continue to work on it.
As soon as I click another layer to work on I have to double click .....(as above), it's somewhat annoying

I have Win7 running CS5
