So when I first open a Raw image in photoshop it lets me adjust the tones (whites, darks, exposure, saturation etc). But I can also make these adjustments after the image has been opened. So what's the difference?

Great stuff and awesomely explained!

Do the tone settings in Adobe Lightroom (exposure, saturation etc) also get applied on a Raw level? I think they must do, but want to check the facts.
