I need to know a few things:

1. How do I connect, collapse and disconnect windows (tool bar, property manager, etc.)? They get stuck together and I can't unstick them.

2. What's the difference between canvas size and image size?

3. Which tools are only for web design (i.e. tools I can ignore if I'm not doing that)?

4. What's the subselection tool do?

For Photoshop:

1.Why is the original layer always locked?
2. Whats the name of the property inspector in PS? And is it called inspector or manager in FW?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have Fireworks anymore so I cant help you with that. I will just try to give you some general hints.

1. Click on the set of dotted lines on the toolbar (See pic)

2. Image size will re-size the content and the canvas.
Canvas size will only re-size the canvas.

3. Can't help you with that.

4. Sub-selection tool allows you to select and edit individual points of an object, see > http://youtu.be/hOGpTjZvZgE

Photoshop:

1. Original layer can be unlocked by double clicking on it or right clicking it and selecting layer from background. You can also start with an unlocked layer if you select background contents as transparent when creating a new canvas.

2. I believe it is called the 'property inspector' in FW.
There is no inspector in Photoshop, the closest thing would be the tool options or info panel.
