Hi Everyone,

I've been watching a tv show called "work of art" and i've seen this guy changing the colors of the skin dramatically to help him place M&M's on the portrait accordingly. He was basically trying to create a portrait from M&M's and i was wondering how could i achieve the same effect.

I would like to do the same thing with a different kind of candy where i have access to 6 different colors. Any ideas to how to achieve this effect?

Thank you all for your help.

Hey there is probably a few ways to do this in Photoshop.
One that I can think of is using the cutout filter after desaturating the image then changing the different shades of grey to your desired individual colors.
Another would be changing the image mode to indexed color with a custom pallet of 6 colors.

First method is one I would recommend as it will be generally easier.
So the steps are:
1. Cut and crop the image to the way you want it
2. De-saturate the image
3. Cutout filter (found in artistic filters) set number of levels to 6
4. Then it's up to you how to want to color each level

Below is a basic example of up to step 3 with a gradient map placed on it to quickly add color. It looks pretty close to what the guy is doing in the pictures.
