hello, the tutorials I have viewed on the web were not very helpful and I have a client that would like some text looking like it was written in sand. Is there a straight forward solution?

A simple way is duplicating the sand layer and using a layer mask with some bevel FX.
Anything you draw on the mask looks like it is written in the sand.
