i am having a problem with bevel and emboss.
it seems to round the corners and i cant figure out a way to give my shape hard corners.
i saw one tutorial where the person just draws the corners and pastes them over the top of the corners, but i dont want to have to do that every time and i am convinced there is a way to do it.

the tutorial is here to get an idea of what i mean. its about a quarter of the way down the page.

http://wegraphics.net/blog/tutorials/how-to-make-a-metallic-transformers-style-logo/

if you want another example of what i mean i will upload my own images and try to explain better.

any help would be great! thanks

EDIT:
i forgot to mention that i am using version CS3

thanks

I am using CS5 but i think it should be the same.

Technique = Chisel Hard (This gives the hard corners)
Depth = Effects the highlight and shadow effect. Turn it up until you are happy.
Size = How big you want it.
Soften = Soften the corners, you don't want that at all turn it right down.

Yes this works because it is a square, with a shape of the tutorial it doesn't..

Possible work around might be:
Inner bevel the shape.
Draw a second shape but smaller, just the part that doesn't have the bevel and apply the same settings in bevel and emboss but than with outer bevel.
Mask the parts you don't need.

I'm having a similar problem to that of the original poster, except I'm getting the rounded edges on text, not shapes - even when I apply a hard bevel. The sample screenshot I'm including is just that, but on the real project I'm working on, I would really like the bevel to have sharp edges, as the rounded ones don't match the otherwise angular look of the text. Any suggestions?

FWIW, I'm on a PC running 64-bit CS6 via Creative Cloud membership.

Also, I wasn't sure if I should "piggy-back" my post onto this one or start a new topic. If I should've done the latter, my apologies.
