I hope one of you experts can help me, I am pulling my hair out here!!

I have created a layered image made up of a background, text box and 2 images all in different layers. I need to reduce the size of one image, so I selected the layer, selected the image, copied and pasted to a new clipboard image. The idea was to re-size and then copy back.

The problem is, when I paste onto the transparent area, it just goes white.

If I paste as a new layer onto my original image, it only pastes a "ghost" version in red. I have tried re-booting but pasting has just stopped working.

The other thing I have notice, which I am sure is connected, when I paste to a new image, the colour version is "greyscale." I have tried changing it to rgb, but that doesn't fix it either and anyway reverts back to greyscale with the next new one.

So

1. Why are my new images set to greyscale and how do I make rgb default again.
2. Why when I copy and paste, does it paste either in white or a red ghost?

Thanks

Kev
