It should be noted first off that, the issue is only present in Photoshop. Once saved (e.g. as a jpg or whatever) the colors show up fine.

I accidentally did a cold power-down when I bumped my power strip's shoddy power toggle the other day and when I powered my rig back up I found that photoshop was showing up bright blues and greens as black. Thinking it might be a gamut issue I realized quickly that I never use CMYK mode and am strictly a RGB'er. So this shouldn't be a problem, right?

That said, I tried messing with color profiles and I even went so far as to reinstall photoshop all together including wiping my preferences during the uninstallation. When I reinstalled and started it back up the problem persisted.

Sounds like it could be a graphics card issue.

Can you take a print screen of the problem while it is present inside Photoshop and save that?
It always helps identifying the problem using visual aids.

If you hold down Alt + Ctrl + Shift keys quickly after you first open Photoshop it should give you an option to reset Photoshops settings to their default values. Often this is the reason why problems still persist when a user has reinstalled Photoshop as the settings remain on your system after uninstalling and are then used by the new install.

Anyway try it and see how it goes.

I Add myself to the thread. Got the EXACT same problem.

Started happening AFTER updating my graphics card from an NVIDIA GTS 8800 to AMD Radeon HD 7900.

Same as Ech: tried changing color profiles. I still get black zones on bright blue/greens.

It happens ONLY on photoshop. Same image shows perfectly on corel painter, gymp or any other software.

Changing picture's color mode from RGB to CMYK fixes it.

I upload same picture (RGB) in photoshop(Left) and windows picture viewer(Right).

Any ideas? Thanks for your time!

Hi everyone!

I have great news for everyone in this topic.

I registered to this forum specifically to help others about this issue.

I too updated my AMD driver from 12.(something) to 13.
I only did this yesterday and today all my bright, lime greens turned into BLACK.

I had to UNINSTALL my AMD drivers completely, and re-install the old one.

I had trouble finding the V12 driver (my previous driver) online, but fortunately, it kept a copy in my C Drive under the AMD Folder.

Simply uninstall the V13 one, install the V12 one again, and im back to normal!!!

Hope that helps!!!!!!!!
