How would one create an image with this style and feeling?

Some of the key things I like about this photo are the color, the brightness of the reeds in the foreground, the blackness of the blacks, and that the skin tone is still a plausible skin tone.

It has a slight vignette, which is the darkness around the edges of the photo.
It is the sepia monochrome style of photo which makes it look vintage.
And obviously the girl is not in focus rather the reed and the tree are the focal point.
It was shot using a Canon EOS 30D @ f/5.6 ISO 100 for 1/200th of a second. This means it was a bright sunny day, much brighter than the picture portrays.
