Hi everyone, my name is James (jamps) and I'm new here! So glad to be a part of a forum again. I was a few years ago, but dropped off the grid because I just didn't have the time. But now I do again, which isn't too bad at all.

Anyways, I'm doing a little bit of fun and experimental design work, but I've run into this weird issue that I can't seem to figure out. I'm not a photoshop pro, but I know my way around it (apparently not enough though, right?) and I've tried most of what I could think of to solve my problem. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

In essence, there are all these nice layers underneath that initial light red/pink-ish cover layer, but, when I delete that top layer, even after I save the file post-deletion, it returns again. I just want it to go away!! The real colors of the design are navy blue and white, and look so nice when covered up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome back to the forum! :)

It looks suspiciously like a quick mask - shot in the dark - try pressing Q. It appears without seeing the layer stack as if some layers are interfering with elements of others.

That's exactly it! The color went away, but now -and I'm sorry if this is more or less a stupid question- this is appearing:

How would I go about getting rid of this quick mask? I've done some searching about quick masks, and most resources tend to point towards how to use them, not the other way around. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Jams, welcome to the forums.

Somehow you must have had a selection going on when you accidentally went into quickmask mode. Just press ctrl/cmd-d to deselect all.
