For some reason, everytime I open photoshop, it switches to Grayscale. At first, I thought it was just a gradient problem, but now I notice that everytime I open photoshop, Grayscale is selected. I have to manually switch it to RGB each time.

I tried switching to RGB, creating a new document and saving it, in hopes that the settings would stay the same, but they don't.

Has anybody else had this issue? It just started doing this a couple days ago.

Hold Ctrl=Alt+Shift and keep them held whilst opening PS. It will ask if you want to reset your preferences back to the default, that should sort it.

What are the images that you are trying to open tagged as? JPEG? PSD?.....

I can only imagine you work with a lot of bitmap or grey-scale files or have some setting squiffy, but from afar it tough to diagnose.

That worked! Thank you so much. I never knew about Ctrl+alt+shift! You're a lifesaver. Much obliged! BTW, to answer your question, I was opening a new document. So strange.

I thought as you, that a new document remembered your old settings as it were. Still glad you got it sorted :) (I didn't read up on it though so you only have the disadvantage of my limited knowledge)
