Hei,

I've been facing problems with CS5 lately. Using the smart sharpen operation which usually takes a couple of seconds now takes between 10 and 15 minutes and uses close to 100% of the CPU! Others adjustements from the "filter" tab suffer severe slowing as well and this has been tremendously annoying.

My PC is an Acer Aspire 5740g running on Windows7 (64bits) and my configuration is the following:
Processor: Intel Core i3 330M
Memory: 4GB
Graphic card: ATI mobility Radeon HD 5470
Mother board: Acer Aspire 5740 (CPU 1)

I tried to reboot windows and then it work perfectly fine until windows started to install the first updates. Then the same problem came over again. I tried to restore the system from before the updates but it fails to complete it. The drivers seem to be properly installed.

I spent quite some time on this and it came over my limit of expertise. I'd gladly appreciate if someone had suggestions to fix my problem.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I'm no expert but it doesn't sound like a PS problem to me. I presume you have reset your PS preferences file, updated drivers etc... (probably to no avail)

I am going to guess virus (not meaning to sound alarmist). Equally it could be a Windows problem.

Did this post help?

Sorry Frown

I just tried a uninstall/reinstall of CS5 and it's actually working much better until now. So for that reason I would say it is a PS problem. Could it come from CS5 updates?
