Ok, by reading alot of posts and some tutorials, I was able to get this far:

But obviously, I still have a lot of work to do. I need some advice on how to get the guy to look more naturally blended into the picture. He just stands out WAY too much. I'm a total beginner right now, and I'm suprised I got as far as I did.
Thanks in advance,

It looks pretty good but to soften the edges go to your tools pallete and select the Blur tool. Its the one that looks like a tear drop. It may be hidden. Its the 7th button down on the leftside of the pallete. If there is a different icon there click and hold, it should come up with a couple diffent options, select the tear drop icon. use the airbrush with a feather and go along the edges to softed them, that should help. |

Ok, I've done some more work on the picture. I think the guy looks a lot more natural now. No, not perfect, but much better for a day or two of work by a complete NOOB. Also changed the text around a bit. But I'm still looking for any suggestions/critiques/comments on how to make it even better.

You could try creating a mask of the guitar player by utilizing your Channels. Cycle through the channels and see which one provides the most contrast between the persona nd the background. Duplicate that channel and then use Curves and/or levels to exaggerate the contrast.
In this case, the background should be totally black, and the figure should be completely white. If you copy this new alpha channel and paste it into a Layer Mask on the guitar player's layer, you can then fine tune the edges of the mask by making it visible in the Channels area and using your Brushes.
Hope that is helpful. |
