hi,
wish had some info and details ie; systems stats, win version , what format your trying to save to, when did it start, any recent updates? ...any problems saving small files size/resolutions. the more details helps narrow down the problem
first to my understanding photoshop has a max file size of 4 gig .... so if yours is up there try trimming down
you may want to try trashing your prefs... sometimes that works..

windows 7
600 hard drive
4 gigs of ram
hd mobility radeon 5350
png format
it always does this with large files.
Small files save easily, medium ones take a few seconds of lag to save
