I've been using the same copy of PhotoShop CS2 for about 5 years. In the last few days it's developed a mysterious problem. After working for 10 or so minutes I can no longer right mouse click on layers, or use the drop down menu. So, I can't do things like merge layers.

After this happens PhotoShop works like crap in general.

So far I tried rolling back Windows, and uninstalling and re-installing the program. The problem remains.

Of course did virus checks.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried resetting Photoshop preference file? Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift whilst opening PS and it should give you a dialogue box asking if you want to trash your preference file.

Failing that, I would update my graphic drivers.

Tried resetting the preferences. No go. After working a while I can't right mouse click anymore. I've re-installed completely. No go.

Graphics drivers? Hmm. Never had to do that before.

Yeah, at this stage I'm pretty much in guess land too! ;) still, knock off the potentials and it narrows the field.

It's quite mysterious, and ultimately deadly. Can't use Photoshop. Can't re-install it and use it. Oh, I update the graphics driver. No difference.

Might be something to do with Windows.
