I have tried to create new icons for my desktop without the backgrounds and it does not work for me. Do you have a Mac tutorial to follow.

Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

it would be the same way to do it for mac in photoshop, simply make the icon, search under mac to find out how to make it a icon a nd hte correct format

i did a quick search on apple.com and got http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/ which should show some progs on how to input them however it should be rather basic you might search google

Well as ready as I ever will be :)

Icons should be saved as .ico files.
Photoshop doesn't have native support for it but there was a link posted on these forums to a website with a plugin to allow you to save images as icons.

Just do a simple search for something like 'icon plugin'.
